Note: We are in the process of preparing specific ordinances to appear on the web site. Please check back later. In the meantime, you can read the ordinances as they appear in the City Council meeting minutes.
At its Regular City Council Meeting of 10/11/12, the City Council unanimously approved the adoption of the Minnesota Basic Code with certain exceptions, notably in the Land Use and Zoning areas (after discussion and review which occurred over much of 2012). Upon publication of the adoption in the North Shore Journal on 10/27/12, it became the official city code for Beaver Bay.
The Minnesota Basic Code (MBC) is designed to be a comprehensive ordinance book for statutory cities under 500 in population. Many portions of the MBC help the City meet requirements imposed by state and federal law.
The MBC is designed to provide the right amount of regulation for cities under 500 in population, without burdening City staff or citizens with too much administrative red tape.
This code book is presented here for reference. Any questions or comments should be directed to the City Council or the City Administrator.
