The City of Beaver Bay, along with Baptism River BBQ and The Green Door, proudly announces the 2025 Smelt Fry scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025. For the first time this century, the smelt will be locally sourced directly from Beaver River!  The meal includes an all-you-can-eat original smelt fry recipe, dating back to 1958, along with chips, tartar sauce, coleslaw, and an orange drink. The meal will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Northshore Area Partners will be joining us from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., hosting a meat raffle and a 50-50 raffle.

Along with this traditional event, the 7th Annual Outdoor Sports Expo will feature local outdoor and adventure businesses with a silent auction benefiting Outdoor Youth Sports in Lake County. Other local vendors will also be present, showcasing their handmade crafts. This event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

There will be a bouncy house for kids aged 1-10 years old, a dunk tank, and a cornhole tournament from 1-3. There will also be live outdoor Music by Timmy Haus from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Bad Wolf Entertainment will DJ. The night will conclude with Aftershock rocking the Green Door from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  

Advance sale tickets for $10 are available at The Green Door, Julie's True Value in Silver Bhe Finland Cooperative.  Advanced sale tickets are available until May 10, 2025. Tickets purchased thereafter, and on the day of the event, will be $15.

All proceeds benefit next year's Smelt Fry, allowing us to continue this tradition in our community for years to come!
